I'm lazy... how the hell do you paste a selection as a new image ?
In PSP its CTRL+E

right click in the selection go to duplicate and select the image u want to duplicate to (new image is an option).

nope. I don't have Duplicate on my right click menu so I choose Image -> Duplicate and it makes a new copy of the whole image, not just the selection.

i don't quite get what your asking but
if you select part of a image you want you copt iy (ctrl + C DUH)
and go layer > new
and then try...

I want to copy a selection from an existing image and paste the selection as a new image.

my mate is playing empire earth on my photoshop pc right now, so when he gets off ill give ya the solution ;-)

u do realise u can just hit ctrl-c then ctrl-n and the new image size will fit exactly that of what u have on the clipboard?

why not just copy the selection.. then go file/new
the size of the selection will be in the height and width fields already
