it was on for young and old today!

vandenburg blatently throwing punches, leaving mcphee bleeding from the face

justin murphee then headbutted beaumont who responded with a punch to the jaw

didn't really pick up much else, will be waiting for the review in the sunday footy show.

Sheedy after the game also hinted that it's only a peice of what's to come next week vs Brisbane (last year was called the 'no rules game')
"It gave us a reminder of what is coming next week," he said.

personally i think it was good for the Hawks.
i remember a few games ago a player getting in a bit of a scruff, and no other hawks players came in to help. Today they showed some pride and some hardness. good on em! obviously something you can't do every week but it was good.

review of it here

Good to see noone really got injured as a result of the stupidity that went on today. Even Hird got in a little brawl without sustaining a season-ending injury!

The "no rules" Essendon vs Brisbane encounter was 2 years ago. Last year was Brisbane getting owned by Essendon. Both were good though. Speaking of which, I'll be going to the Essendon vs Brisbane game next Saturday night. Should be awesomic to the maximal.

ahaha this is all good news for the Blues and the Saints.
they will face a second string Hawk side for the next 2 weeks - Blues next week - and the mighty Saints the week after.

Even though Hawks bashed the Bombers, they lost the game and now for sure get smashed stupidly in the next game, even more likely the week after.

lol true
but they would have lost those matches anyway, so i think it'll give a good chance to play some young blokes

damn i wanted to see it.. saw like 10seconds on the news..

we need a bit more of that in the game. its a rough sport whcih has been toned down and made too commercial and thus has affected the intensity of the play on occasions.

I thought it was a great brawl ;) The game is being toned down way too much . . . think back 10-15 years ago, that brawl would have been nothing.

Good to see the hawkers are showing some spirit again ;)

Yeh well, they can't seem to play footy at the moment, so they had to do something to please thier fans. :)

Was good to see though, took me back to the 80's games. Nice to see the rivalry is still there.
