LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 8 Reversing itself, the Army said Tuesday that a G.I. was discharged partly because of a head injury he suffered while posing as an uncooperative detainee during a training exercise at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
The Army had previously said Specialist Sean Baker's medical discharge in April was unrelated to the injury he received last year at the detention center, where the United States holds suspected terrorists.
Mr. Baker, 37, a former member of the 438th Military Police Company, said he played the role of an uncooperative prisoner and was beaten so badly by four American soldiers that he suffered a traumatic brain injury and seizures. He said the soldiers only stopped beating him when they realized he might be American.
Bruce Simpson, Mr. Baker's lawyer, said his client is considering a lawsuit.

Gives people abit of an insight as to how Guantánamo Bay really works. Makes you wonder if this was an isolated incident or if this goes on daily.
What i don't understand is the whole situation though, was this some agent acting undercover as a detainee to gain inteligence from other prisoners?
Agent or not, sustaining what could be perminent brain injury's from voilent interogation's is really disgusting and the fact that they only stopped once they considered the fact that he could be American is even worse.
I in no way can see how this could possibly be funny though. If you think this is funny i would assume you think the Abu Ghraib prison situation is funny too because of there simularities.

an innocent man. brain damage for life. american soldiers beat him so hard, he is brain damaged for life.
i find that completely abhorrent, i dont know about you. yes, if it were any other group it would be equally as bad. but it wasnt, it was americans.

People get the **** beaten out of them daily to the point of brain damage, but it doesn't seem to make the news. This occurance is just damn hilarious due to its stupidity.

I'd think it makes it into a joke.
Be prepared for a lot of "hear about the.....?" "yeah, he got the **** beaten out of him by marines!!" jokes.

its funny how you go on about "this happened and it didn't make the news" titan. funny in a despicably hipocritical kind of way. people get beaten to the point of brain damage every day in America/American controlled areas as a form of prisoner control eh titan? so its not news, its actually funny?
:o
so Titan, as Joseph Welch once said to Joe McCarthy (http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/welch-mccarthy.html), I ask: Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"
Titan

I do. I just don't believe decency has anything to do with crying an ocean every time someone breaks a left nut.
