pretty scrappy game but its got going now.
half time scores: ess 5.9.39 coll 4.4.28
few things, trav cloke is gonna be a great player for coll.
lovett is impressing me more and more with each game he plays.
lay**** is playing like a man possessed today. fantastic effort so far from him.
hird, my god. the guy is just too damn good. he is easily the best captain going around at the moment and has been for some time now. still up there with the best players in the league, no doubt about it.
having said that, what the hell was the umpire thinking when he got the kick again?
edit: the no naughty words thing has edited that dudes name :D
but you guys know who im talking about

have to agree.
pretty ordinary game.
how about next year they organise the ANZAC game to be played by 1st vs 2nd on the ladder, instead of a cellar dwellar game !

one more thing that i have been saying for a while now is that essendon dont have the skills they used to. gary lion agreed with me today saying that llyod simply doesnt have the supply he used to get from guys like mercui and misiti.

Lay**** is the perfect example of a player who is free to roam around because the opposition were not making him accountable. which is why when westcoast's midfield get made accountable against a good side their forward line wont be able to do anything.
every game this w/e should be an anzac game. if that makes sense. but yeah good to see hird getting a bit agro for once.

what side is going to make coast's midfeild accountable?
the point is coast is so good that they can play the brand of footy they have been playing and get away with it. ppl like judd, kerr, fletcher, embly. these guys run and run and run. accountability isnt an issue i dont think.

lol i dont know why we won that game. we were so ugly in our style. so were collingwood though. wd to lovett. got the anzac day medal. champion player
We won that game because we were less terrible than Collingwood. Collingwood stuffed around with the ball way to much, and when they tried to go long, they never looked where they were kicking and ended up turning the ball over, or kicking it out on the full. Essendon made heaps of stupid mistakes, but Collingwood were just so bad they couldn't capitalise.
Lay**** was excellent in the first three quarters, and Andrew Lovett was absolutely blistering throughout the game. He's beginning to show the same kind of silky skills that Michael Long showed in his prime. Pity Kepler Bradley was out, he would have been a nice replacement for Henneman or Murphy who were pretty ordinary throughout the entire game.
Pretty shocking game overall, but a wins a win when you're on the bottom of the ladder. Enjoy 16th place, Brisbane.

The thing is, the opposition has to have 13 players to try and contain our midfield, not 5.
This game looked average, from what i saw of it, Essendon have moved off the bottom but for how long?
Essendon v Brisbane at the Telstra Dome next round.

Wonder if you'll be playing with or without Hird, like to see you have a chance without him.

yeah but what i'm saying is when they play a top midfield they'll have to focus on controlling them aswell. but against lesser side they can just run off and do whatever they want. but there's not many midfields as dangerous as wce.
The Hird incident was nothing. it was bad contact, but he couldn't pull out. a free kick nothing more. at most he'll get below the 100 points and not be suspended. i thought essendon looked alot better with some bigger names in the side such as murphy and rioli. even though they dind't play that well it just gives them a bit more confidence and structure.
Well one thing is for sure: if Essendon want to stay off the bottom of the ladder they HAVE to beat Brisbane next round, because they certainly won't beat Sydney in Round 7 at Telstra Stadium.

Why was Kepler out?
And Lloyd wasnt playn bad because there was crap supply. He was crap. Presty had his number all day except for that stupid free kick. It pisses me off that Lloyd will fall to the ground and appeal for a free kick EVERY single time he goes near the ball. But I guess its good that the umps have FINALLY woken up to it.
