About time he passed the captaincy to Viduka. If captains are supposed to lead by example, the amount of goals he lets through (for Australia and Middlesbrough) can't possibly be the right message to send the team.

Emerton is not a gun . . . he's always been a let down in my eyes.

The Australian team undoubtedly has the talent but they just don't play well together. The defence really really needs to get better as they can't compete with the speed, skill and explosive power of the Southern American nations.

Whilst I hope Australia do make the World Cup, I have my doubts. Since the Iran series I just don't want to get my hopes up . . . I'll end up in tears.

i think it was more the pressure from the South American countries, as Oceania would have taken their chance of a getting 5th team into the finals. So they pressured FIFA into revoking the Oceania pass into the finals.
