That was my first thought.

Otherwise it's not a bad idea, it could certainly be more versatile than the wii-mote, but you have to wonder about button layouts and stuff like that, as well as the comfort of holding half a controller in the hand.

Still, interesting to see something different.

I still don't know why this has generated so much discussion. Some guy cut his PS controllers in half and claimed that it'd be a good idea, and you're acting as if Sony has announced it themselves.
