Lands Minister John Carey has appointed Jo Gaines to the DevelopmentWA board, following the departure of Alan Carpenter.

Formerly Mark McGowan’s deputy chief of staff and currently GESB superannuation fund non-executive chair, Ms Gaines will also become a director of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority board.

She will start on the board on March 1, 2022 for three years, following Mr Carpenter‘s retirement.

Mr Carpenter was appointed to the DevelopmentWA board in September last year.

Existing DevelopmentWA board members Simon Reed, Jane Bennett and Deputy Chairperson Rebecca Field have had their terms extended.

Lands minister John Carey said Ms Gaines, sister of outgoing Fortescue Metals Group chief executive Elizabeth Gaines, would be a valuable addition to the board.

Ms Gaines‘ experience will be invaluable in supporting DevelopmentWA to deliver new jobs, economic growth and housing opportunities across the State,” he said.

Mr Carey thanked Mr Carpenter for his time on the board.
