Tourism and property developer Sevens Group Australia has been appointed to redevelop the Nedlands Bath Site into a boutique hotel, function centre, restaurant and café.

The project has been dubbed a ‘tourism project of state significance’ by the state government and is expected to support more than 100 jobs during construction.

The new development will be built over the water on the existing lease that currently hosts the marina and recently closed JoJo’s café, located near the Nedlands Rugby Club and Charles Court Reserve.

Member for Nedlands Dr Katrina Stratton said the site has great meaning to the local community and was currently underutilised.

“The redevelopment proposal will transform the site – once again – to being a thriving and accessible community asset,” Ms Stratton said.

The proposal was put forward by Sevens Group Australia, a self-described property, hospitality and tourism development group with a listed office on Queens Street in Perth.

Sevens WA Pty Ltd, which trades as Sevens Group Australia, is owned by Lye Meng Eric Cheng and Tena Tang.

Sevens plans develop the Swan River site in a two-storey boutique hotel, function centre, restaurant, café, bar, public amenities and a protected marina.

Tourism WA’s Tourism Attractions Case Management team, which assists projects that will have a significant impact to tourism and the WA economy, said it is supporting the development.

Tourism Minister Roger Cook said the development demonstrates confidence in the future of tourism in WA.

“As a project of State significance, I’m proud to support this project through our Tourism Attractions Case Management team, which is working with the Sevens Group to help navigate the relevant approval processes,” Mr Cook said in a statement.

“The development of tourism attractions such as this will help showcase Perth and Western Australia as a must-visit destination, as we prepare to welcome the return of visitors from around the world.”

Sevens Group is set to begin a community consultation process.
